Data Aggregation and Virtual Immersion for Security

About DAVIS

We live in increasingly uncertain times, and security is a top priority. The DAVIS project combines VR, AI, gaming technology, and data sources to create security solutions for police, military, and sensitive industries.

It integrates live camera feeds and scanned environments into 3D visualizations with AI support and VR, helping with both preventive and forensic security work, as well as training. The project began as a proof-of-concept simulating crime scenes, and is now developing into a scalable, commercial solution with international potential for enhancing security, reducing risks, and improving crime prevention and investigation.

DAVIS is a project being developed with support from Vinnova.

What is unique?

DAVIS is an immersive platform combining VR, AI, digital twins, and gaming tech, specifically focused on security with validated tools for industrial and police use.

The platform is scalable and future-proof, with modular data integration and increasing AI automation for lower costs and enhanced analysis.

DAVIS offers unique convergence of technologies for preventive, forensic, and training purposes, making it valuable for civil, police, and industrial security applications

Revolutionizing Security with Immersive 3D Technology

DAVIS combines VR, AI, gaming technology, and digital twins to create immersive 3D environments for security applications. It allows real-time visualization of crime scenes and security situations, aiding forensic investigations and training. By integrating live data feeds and automating processes, DAVIS enhances efficiency, reduces costs, and supports preventive and investigative security work across industries.

Key goals include developing a scalable, commercially viable platform that boosts security operations in areas like forensics, security planning, and training, with potential applications in industries, public events, and critical infrastructure.

Ongoing Development of the DAVIS Platform

The DAVIS project is progressing through experimental phases to enhance and refine its visual capabilities. Several new visualization techniques are being explored, including AI-assisted model generation, gaussian splatting and sparse rendering, which may influence the platform’s future methods.

DAVIS is categorized into three key components:

  1. Scanned and optimized physical environments.

  2. Input from various data sources.

  3. Analytical data produced by in-tool functions (e.g., distance calculations, time stamps), which will be expanded in functionality beyond the POC phase.

Going forward, a major focus is on integrating a VR application, allowing users to navigate environments as avatars in real-time. This immersive experience is critical for all three application areas—Forensics, Security, and Training. The VR functionality, coupled with the enhanced data analysis tools, is central to the value DAVIS provides in simulating complex environments and scenarios.

Ethically, DAVIS adhere to strict privacy and integrity laws, especially when using video and camera data. The project operates within the legal framework set by law enforcement, but additional ethical considerations, such as individual tracking through camera feeds and AI-driven data, are continuously addressed with the help of a reference group. This ensures that the platform remains compliant with legal standards and maintains high ethical standards in security-related applications.
